Privacy Policy
Grimm Diary ("the app", "we") is a picture-diary app (Korean 그림일기): each page pairs a drawing or photo with a short note on a paper-style worksheet. The app is local-first and has no account — we do not collect your name, email, password, contacts, or location, and your diary never leaves your device except where you explicitly choose to share it.
This page explains the limited data the app handles and why.
Your diary content
- Diary pages — text, drawings, weather/title fields, and any photos you add — are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers (we do not run a sync server).
- Deleting a page removes its photo, strokes, and rendered image from your device. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Photos and camera
- With your permission, you may import a photo from your photo library to use as a page background or to cut out its subject as a sticker, or take a photo with the camera for a page.
- Imported and captured photos are processed on your device and stored in the app's private storage. They are not sent anywhere.
- Subject cut-out uses Apple's on-device image analysis; no photo or result is transmitted off the device.
Permissions used: Photo Library (to import photos) and Camera (to take photos). You can change these any time in your device's Settings.
Notifications
If you set a reminder for a plan, the app schedules a local notification on your device. There is no push server and no push token — nothing about your reminders is sent to us or any third party.
App updates
When the app starts, it asks our app-update service (Expo) whether a newer version of the app's code is available and, if so, downloads it in the background. That request includes a randomly generated installation identifier (not your name or Apple ID, and not linked to you), the app's runtime version and release channel, the identifiers of the update currently installed, and — only if the previous launch crashed — that crash's error message, so we can tell whether an update fixed it. It carries no contact details, no location, and no usage analytics, and it is not used to track you.
What we do not do
- No third-party analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDK.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifier (IDFA) use.
- No sharing or selling of your data — there is no data collected to share.
Children
Grimm Diary is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it stores none about a child.
Data retention and your choices
- Your diary stays on your device under your control. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
- Photo Library, Camera, and Notification permissions can be changed at any time in your device's Settings.
